Aware of the need for widespread involvement given the scale of the challenge faced, its members share the same belief, that saving the canal du Midi requires an effort from everyone affected by its development whether locally, nationally or internationally.
Members of the canal du Midi Business Sponsors Club are consequently stakeholders in their own right in promoting the canal du Midi replanting scheme. To this end, their opinion is valued by the French internal waterways authority, Voies Navigables de France, which is heading the scheme, and its partners. They support the communication efforts aimed at raising awareness in various areas (businesses, the media, institutions, the general public) through press conferences, events, etc.
The annual membership fees paid by members of the canal du Midi Business Sponsors Club are forwarded in full to the canal du Midi replanting scheme.

The canal du Midi symbolises the gentle calm of France’s regions. This outstanding feature of France’s heritage is now threatened by the spread of a disease for which no treatment exists, canker stain. This threat warrants concerted action by the canal du Midi Business Sponsors Club. All those who, like me, are deeply attached to the canal, will want to work to save it, and pass this jewel on to future generations.
I invite all those involved in the economy in our regions to join us. It is part of ourselves and as such should be saved.
